THATTA, March 27: Ms Soni, wife of Umer Shidi, resident of Mirpur Bathoro taluka, has threatened to commit self-immolation in protest against the excesses of a landlord of Relo deh.

Speaking at a press conference, she said that she owned a piece of land in Relo deh since her forefathers, which was the only source of her livelihood.

She said that on March 17, when she came out of her house, the armed men, Ali Mohammad, Peroz Sultan Wahid Dino Parhiyar and others, abused her and asked her to vacate the land immediately, as they had made chicanery entries in the record of right. On her refusal to vacate the land they went on beating her.

She alleged that the officials and high ups of district government had not taken any notice of the issue.

She said that she went to the Thana police to register an FIR against the accused but the police refused to register the FIR.
