KARACHI, Feb 1 Upcoming Muneeb Khan overcame a stiff challenge from Omer Usman in three sets to reach the next round of juniors` U-17 singles on the opening day of the Sindh Ranking Tennis Championship at DHA Sunset Club on Friday.

After conceding the opener 2-6, Muneeb bounced back to claim the next two sets 6-3, 6-2 to register victory.

Two other players, Basit Gabol and Mustafa Tariq, also progressed to next stage. The former eased to a 7-6, 6-2 win over Adil Tanoli while the latter made it through a walkover against Saad Yousuf.

The organisers have made a junior singles draw of 32-24 direct entries and eight qualifiers. Four players qualified for the main draw on the first day. They include Bilal Shariff, Ahmed Waqas, Zain Saeed and Qazi Zain.

Saturday`s fixtures

Juniors` u-17 singles qualifying rounds 9.00am; juniors` u-17 singles main rounds 10.30am; boys` u-15 singles qualifying rounds 11.30am.
