SIALKOT, June 6: Blackout was observed on Wednesday night in all the border villages of Narowal amid thunders of Indian shelling.
The appeal for blackout was officially made through loud-speakers.
Official sources confirmed the Indian security forces shelled Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Bajragarhi, Charwa, Harpal, Chaprar, Sucheetgarh, Jammu, Akhnoor, Saamba, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors, damaging 20 more houses and two mosques. Some 13 cattle were killed in the recent wave of shelling.
MONITORED: Punjab Information Technology Secretary Saeed Alvi on Thursday visited various wheat procurement centres in Daska and monitored provision of gunny bags and payment process.
The secretary directed the food officials to ensure smooth provision of gunny bags and payment to the wheat growers by curbing the menace of the middlemen and dealers.
Mr Alvi condoled the death of the mother of Daska DDO (revenue) Abdul Razzaq Malik.
ELECTROCUTED: An old couple was electrocuted here on Thursday.
The mother of Dr Qamar Suhail was hanging washed clothes on a wire when she suddenly touched the main electric cable passing over the roof. On listening to her hue and cry, her husband Akhtar Suhail Khan reached the spot, but he also received a shock. Both of them died on the spot.
They were laid to rest in their native graveyard in the presence of hundreds of mourners.
