HYDERABAD, March 8 The city in the past lacked proper attention because of which it remained under developed, said the caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Justice (Rtd) Abdul Qadir Halepoto.

Massive development work was being carried out due to efforts of provincial and district governments, he said to the members of the Hyderabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Saturday.

He said Sindh government purchased 300 acres at Rs500,000 per acre and handed over the land to Site for setting up more industrial units in Hyderabad. He expressed the hope that after expansion of Site area a network of industrial units would be laid generating employment opportunities for youth. He assured of further expansion in Site area by about 1000 acres. He said Rs20 million announced by the Sindh Governor to Chamber`s Secretariat had been approved and foundation stone of it would be laid soon.

He advised the district nazim Hyderabad to submit PC-1 for the establishment of medical and engineering colleges to be approved by Sindh Governor and Chancellor. He informed the chamber that some breakthrough had been made to resolve the problems of bangle industry.

Responding to points raised by chamber, Justice (retd) Halepoto said Super Highway from Karachi to Hyderabad was in worse condition and promised to take up the matter with the National Highway Authority.

He said he will also speak to high-ups in the PIA and defence minister to introduce air cargo service for the facilitation of local industrialists.
