RAWALPINDI Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Malik Iftikhar Ahmed bagged 18,600 votes in the provincial assembly constituency PP-10, while his closest rival Malik Mehboob Elahi an independent candidate obtained 11,800 voteson Monday.

The seat vacated by Chief Minister Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif as he won seats in more than one constituency.

Malik Iftikhar Ahmed is the brother of sitting MNA Malik Ibrar.

The unofficial results were announced by Additional District and Session Judge and Returing Officer (RO) for the constituency PP-10.

Some 109 polling stations had been set up for the conduct of smooth polling in the constituency.

Extra security had been deployed at 11 polling stations as these stations declared sensitive.

As many as 150,000 registered voters exercise their right of vote to elect their representatives in the provincial assembly.

Polling started at 8am and continued till 5 pm without any interval and no untoward incident was reported.
