KARACHI, Nov 26 India`s K. V. N. Murthy, who arrived in the city on Sunday, finally got a first feel of the playing conditions when teaming up with Ejaz Sarhadi the pair whipped Balochistan`s combination of Sohail Qadir and Javed 6-4, 6-2 in the 35-plus doubles of Pakistan International Seniors world ranking tennis championship at Karachi Club on Wednesday.

The match which remained unfinished on Tuesday night was completed after resumption. Murthy and Ejaz were 1-0 up in the second set having won the opener 6-4. They are now pitted against Iltifat and Javed Iqbal in the quarter-final.

Earlier in 35-plus singles, third seed Murthy who got a first round bye was awarded a walkover in the next fixture when his opponent Moin Memon failed to turn up. The walkover has placed him in the last eight.

Meanwhile, former celebrity and second seed Rashid Malik, accounted for Azheruddin 6-3, 6-0 to set a date with top seed Tahir Gul who conceded one point in his 6-1, 6-0 victory over Karim Gul Agha. The final will be played on Thursday.

45 plus singles quarter-finals Tahir Gul bt Ali Raza 6-2, 4-6, 6-0; Azharuddin bt Zulfiqar Yousufzai (Hyderabad) 6-0, 6-1.

Semi-finals Rashid Malik bt Azheruddin 6-3, 6-0; Tahir Gul bt Karim Gul Agha 6-1, 6-0.

35 plus singles first round Mohammad Iltifat bt Wolfgang (Germany) 6-1, 6-2.
