KOHAT, Dec 8 Local Taliban on Monday reoccupied a school in Chapri area of Orakzai Agency which they used as a training facility in the past, sources said.

Sources said that militants had vacated Government Girls Primary School Goro in Chapri area of the agency following last months bombardment at the surrounding hills by the security forces.

However, on Monday militants recaptured the school and brought computers, literature, heavy arms and ammunition to the building, sources added.

Reports from the remote areas of Orakzai Agency said that Taliban slaughtered a driver belonging to Sturi Khel tribe on charges of spying. The incident created panic in the nearby hamlets.

Meanwhile, unidentified persons distributed leaflets in lower Orakzai Agency warning Taliban of stern action if they did not stop carrying out suicide attacks against tribesmen. The leaflets addressed to the spokesman of the local Taliban asked them to leave the area.

Residents said that Taliban commander in Orakzai Agency, Mullah Hakeemullah had strengthened his position in the area and he was roaming without any fear despite being on the top of the hit list of the government.

ROCKET ATTACK The boundary wall of a house, close to Kohat Circuit House in KDA Township, was damaged when hit by a rocket on Monday, police said.

The rocket fired from unknown location hit the wall of the house of Advocate Javed Hussein and exploded with a big noise.

Fear gripped residents of the area as it was the first time that a rocket had been fired during the day. Police reached the scene and cordoned the entire area.

The bomb disposal squad also searched the area and declared it clear.

Jungle Khel police have registered a case against unidentified terrorists and started investigations.

Meanwhile, police and security forces carried out a search operation in Bazid Khel area adjacent to the Frontier Region of Kohat and arrested 14 suspects. The operation was launched on reports that criminals and militants had entered Kohat and tried to kidnap eight schoolteachers on December 3 2008.

The district administration also established several checkposts at all the entry points of the district and tightened security and checking of the vehicles to avoid any untoward incident during Eidul Azha. Police commandos had been deployed at all the sensitive installations.

Meanwhile, local administration on Monday declared 72 religious places as most sensitive where people would offer Eid prayers on Tuesday.

The district police officer, Abdullah Khan, said that special security arrangements had been made at eight Eidgahs, seven Imambargahs and 57 mosques in the district.
