HYDERABAD, Dec 15 The Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association (SPLA) has appealed to the Sindh government to fill in 1,000 vacant posts in grade-18, 19 and 20, through promotions for ending the unrest among college teachers.
In a joint statement issued here on Monday, central leaders of the association, Prof Liaquat Aziz, Prof Siddique Unnar, Prof Azhar Mirza, Prof Yaqoob Chandio and others demanded regularisation of ad-hoc lecturers along with the payment of their five-month salaries.
They also demanded upgradation of college teachers on the pattern of university teachers and matching salary and allowances of urban with those of the rural.
They called for restoration of allowance as introduced by Benazir Bhutto, promotion of librarians and DPEs, induction of more teachers and provision of scientific equipments in colleges.
