HYDERABAD, Dec 21 The Hyderabad DPO has suspended an ASI and a constable of the Qasimabad police station for illegally keeping a boy in custody.

According to a press release issued by the DIG office, the action was recommended when information was received by the DIG that the boy, Asad Khaskheli, was detained by the investigation wing of the Qasimabad police, who had reached the court after fleeing from police custody. The DPO was asked to take action and he suspended ASI Inayat Zardari and constable Mohammad Rafiq.

Meanwhile, the DIG has directed the DPOs of the zone to hold refresher courses for police offices to apprise them of modern method of investigation in accordance with human rights. He said that special lectures should be arranged in this regard.

At a meeting of the DPOs, the DIG said that children involved in any offence should not be kept with adult offenders.

A hand-cuffed Asad reached the district and sessions court on Friday after fleeing from what he said illegal detention of Qasimabad investigation wing policemen. He said that he was kept at a flat in Qasimabad.
