DADU, Dec 24 Dozens of people and social workers marched from Gharibabad to the press club here on Wednesday to protest against the local police.

Organized by the Citizen Welfare Action Committee, the march was led by Dr Jabber Babar, Inayat Jamali, Qaim Ali Siyal, Haji Mehboob Chandio and Sajid Mastoi.

They told journalists that the police were trying to arrest an innocent man, Lala Qureshi, in Inamullah Arain kidnapping case. They alleged that were trying to arrest those who had participated in protest against kidnapping of Inamullah Arain.

Later, the protesters observed token hunger strike out side the press club.

ARRESTED Three kidnappers were arrested and a kidnap victim was recovered after an encounter with the kidnapers on Thalho-Khairpur Nathan Shah road on Wednesday, police said.

DPO Operation Dadu Pervez Chandio said that Faiz Mohammad Khokhar was kidnapped by Mohammad Chandio dacoit gang from Larkana a few days day ago.

He said that on a tip off, Dadu district police surrounded the bandits at Thalho-Khairpur Nathan Shah road and warned them to release Faiz Mohammad but they refused.

He said after encounter hostage Faiz Mohammad Khokhar was recovered from the captivity of bandits, while gang leader Mohammad Chandio and his two accomplices Hakim Chandio and Zahid Khakhrani were arrested. He further said that three unidentified bandits escaped. Police recovered three Kalashnikovs and bullets from their possession.

SALARY DEMANDED A large number of school teachers took out a rally here on Wednesday to protest against non-payment of salaries.

Mohammad Ali Panhwar, Yaseen Panhwar and Shahbaz Jamali said that over 400 teachers were appointed by the district education department four years ago. Of them 80 teachers were still performing their duty but the department was not paying them salary.

They said Sindh education minister had promised regularisation of their services, but, lamented that summary of their regularisation was rejected.
