KHAIRPUR, June 18: The citizens observed shutter-down strike in Khairpur against Hesco on Tuesday.
The shutter-down strike was observed till 11am on the call of the Anjuman-i-Tajran, Khairpur.
The citizens were protesting against the issuance of detection bills, particularly to traders.
They also staged a sit-in at the Punj Gulla chowk where the leaders of the Anjuman-i-Tajran addressed the gathering.
Hussain Bux Abbasi, chairman, Goldsmith Association, said that crystal meters had financially ruined the traders as they had to pay for electricity which they had not consumed.
Qutubuddin Shah, chairman, Anjuman-i-Tajran said that heavy detection bills of electricity had disturbed the citizens and it had become the order of the day for Hesco to issue detection bills so as to recover its losses from the poor consumers.
LOADSHEDDING: On the call of the Citizens Ittehad, Lakha Road, citizens observed shutter-down strike on Tuesday against the load-shedding in Lakha road for several hours on a daily basis.
The citizens also took out a procession and staged a sit-in at Haidry Chowk and blocked the Lakha-Kandiaro road. They also raised slogans against the Hesco officials, Mehrabpur.
They complained that despite the weather being so hot, Hesco officials were resorting to loadshedding since the last 10 days.
ELECTROCUTED: Jamila Bhambhro, 25, was electrocuted while ironing clothes on Tuesday.
