ABBOTTABAD, Jan 11 The institutional management committee of Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) terminated seven doctors and referred the cases of four others to the provincial government for departmental action here on Saturday night.

The doctors of the complex, who were on complete strike for the last three days, ended their strike and would observe token-strike daily for two hours, a spokesman for the doctors said.

Interestingly, the protesting doctors, six of whom had been arrested and later granted bail, were ignorant about the late night decision. The six doctors and one office-bearer of the Pakistan Doctors Association were suspended by the chief executive of the AMC, Prof Alam Zeb Manan, on the recommendation of the management committee. The four doctors, who were transferred from the health department NWFP and were working at the Ayub Medical Complex, would return to their parent department.

Meanwhile, a large number of people staged protest demonstration against the strike of the doctors at the hospital.

A protest rally was taken out from the Cantonment bazaar which ended at Jinnah Chowk where representatives of traders federations and some of the political parties addressed and demanded of the NWFP government to take drastic steps in this regard.

The protestors presented a resolution to the district co-ordination officer to convey the feelings of the general public to the government as they were suffering due to strike and poor management of the complex. They demanded suspension of the management and appointment of a neutral administrator.

ISRAEL CRITICISED The Jamaat-i-Islami organised a rally to protest against the Israeli aggression in Gaza.

They were chanting slogans against the aggression and criticised the role of Islamic countries specially the OIC, and strongly condemned the killing of children and others by the Israeli army.

Speakers demanded of the government of Pakistan to show their stance on the issue and suggested that unanimous resolution should be adopted in the National Assembly and Senate to criticise the role of America in this regard.
