MINGORA, Jan 12 Five more persons were killed and two sustained injuries in different incidents of violence in the restive Swat valley on Monday.

In the first incident, Mohammad Sarwar was killed in Odigram area, some four kilometres West of Mingora, by unidentified persons. The motive behind the killing could not be ascertained.

In the second incident, Syed Mohammad of Balugram was killed and his guest was kidnapped from his residence when militants entered his house late on Sunday night. Militants also snatched cash from them at gunpoint. The area police have registered a case and started investigation.

In another incident, Pakistan People`s Party leader Batkh Boland and his associate from Dir district whose name was yet to be ascertained were killed in Hazara area of Kabal. They were travelling in a car when unidentified persons opened fire on them.

Meanwhile, the Swat peace committee chief Inamur Rehman reportedly called on Taliban local chief Maulana Fazlullah at an unspecified place and requested him to help stop further bloodshed in the region.

The Maulana, sources said, assured the peace committee chief all out cooperation in this respect but sought time to discuss the matter with the rest of his colleagues at a meeting of Taliban local Shura.

Meanwhile, ane person was killed and two others sustained injuries in a roadside mine blast in Shangwatai area of Matta tehsil on Monday night. —Correspondent
