HYDERABAD, Jan 29 The consul-general of Japan in Karachi, Akinori Wada, on Thursday visited the University of Sindh and met Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui.

During the meeting, the Japanese diplomat said that in Japan many universities were offering courses in the English language. He said that Japanese government was contemplating launching a study programme for foreigners and a students` exchange programme.

He said that the purpose of his visit was to meet students of the University of Sindh and to share his views about students programme in Japanese universities.

Mr Siddiqui informed the diplomat that the University of Sindh was the second oldest university of the country established on April 3, 1947. He said that the university was offering degree programmes in 55 teaching centres, institutes and departments, which included Information Communication Technology, Computer Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, and Business Management.

He said that the University of Sindh would welcome study programme, which would provide its students with an opportunity to study in the universities of Japan.

The consul-general also visited the department of International Relations and the Area Study centre Far East and South East and met the students.
