DADU, Feb 26 A large number of people from Pir Gaji Shah village of Johi taluka took out a procession here on Thursday in protest against Poliz, an oil and gas exploration company, for its failure to pay compensation for use of their land.

Daud Khan Shahani, Shah Mohammad Jamali and Khamiso Jamali who led the protest said that local officials of the company had promised the villagers payment of Rs100,000 per acre and compensation for crops, trees and houses before establishing a camp in their village, but they had not yet paid them anything.

They claimed that the company officials had promised to give jobs to local skilled and non-skilled people but did not keep the promise. Besides, the company did not carry out community welfare projects in the area, they said.
