HYDERABAD, March 16 A UK toxicologist has shown keen interest in providing relief to the people of backward areas from snake bite cases.

Prof Ian D. Simpson, working as an adviser to the Pakistan Medical Research Council and technical adviser to the Sindh government on anti-snake vaccine, is desirous of working jointly with scholars of departments of zoology, physiology, biochemistry and biochemistry of the University of Sindh.

He expressed these feeling during a meeting with the SU Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui on Monday. He said that his visit was aimed at initiating research work on snakes and their identification as there was a great scope of snake identification for which a laboratory would also be established.

Mazharul Haq Siddiqui briefed him about the research facilities and contribution of researchers. He offered to provide some basic research papers conducted by a physiology academic.

He said that the initiative taken by the UK researchers would benefit the people of Sindh.

Dr Naeemullah Qureshi Project Director of Serology Laboratories in Sindh, and Dr M. Suleman Shaikh Advisor Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) University of Sindh also attended the meeting.

DCO, Tando Mohammad Khan, Dr Mohammad Farooq Leghari said this while speaking at a meeting of district officers and delegation of teachers.

He assured of resolving the salary issue of the newly-appointed teachers on priority basis with directions to concerned officers for making the procedure transparent.
