HYDERABAD, March 27 Society for the Protection of the Rights of Child (Sparc), on the last day of its campaign for elimination of bonded labour, held a rally outside the press club on Friday
Earlier, rally participants, including members of the civil society and liberated haris and kiln workers held a march from Fateh Chowk to the press club carrying banners inscribed with slogans ag- ainst forced labour and the demand to implement Labour Laws.
The National Bonded Labour Programme Manager Sparc Kashif Bajeer and others like Shafique Kandhro, Punhal Sario and Ms Nasreen Shakeel Pathan expressed concern over a large number of bonded labour working in the agriculture sector and brick kilns.
They regretted that the government had enacted law against bonded labour as far back as 1992 but it could not be implemented in the last 16 years and demanded its implementation in letter and spirit, registration of all brick kilns, activation of district vigilance committees and implementation of all ILO conventions.
They demanded the recovery of kidnapped family members of Mannu Bheel and provision of a livelihood for liberated haris and kiln workers.
TRAINING Umeed Foundation, an NGO working to improve hospital waste management system in Liaquat University Hospital Hyderabad and Jamshoro branches, organised a training course for nursing and paramedical staff on Friday.
Eighty participants of different wards attended the training under the Hospital Waste Management Project, which was launched by the foundation in collaboration with the UNDP, GEF/SGP Pakistan.
The objective of training was to give hands on training and demonstration to nursing and paramedical staff.
