LAHORE, March 28 An application has been filed in the Supreme Court requesting to put the name of former president Gen Pervez Musharraf (retired) on the Exit Control List.
The application has been filed by Advocate Dr Akmal Saleemi on the base of his already pending constitutional petition (since 2007) seeking action against Pervez Musharraf and others for killing of innocent students in Lal Masjid at Jamia Hafsa, Islamabad.
In his application filed at the Lahore Registry of the Supreme Court, Dr Akmal stated that his main grievance was against Pervez Musharraf as he was the one who ordered `surrender or die` and through reliable sources it was learnt that he was leaving the country.
The applicant has expressed the apprehension that Musharraf might leave the country for good so his name should be put on the ECL and the pending petition in this regard be fixed before any appropriate bench of the SC at the earliest.
In his main petition, Dr Akmal had also made the federal secretary interior, the Islamic District Administration, the Wafaqul Madaris and the Jamia Hafsa Scrutiny Committee respondents.
He contented that the military operation in Lal Masjid was barbaric and against the constitution.
He also demanded constitution of an inquiry committee, comprising retired judges of the apex court, for probe and that the attendance record of the Lal Masjid students should be sought.
His petition was taken up by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry in 2007 and notices were issued to respondents, but after his (CJ`s) removal the petition had not been fixed for hearing so far.
