FAISALABAD, June 29: Around a dozen alleged terrorists were arrested on Saturday in another massive crackdown against the activists of banned militant outfits across the Faisalabad division.
Special police teams raided dozens of houses and dens of alleged terrorists in different parts of Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts and held top wanted men of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Lashkar-i-Tayyaba. Some heads of seminaries were also rounded up from Jhang during the operation.
Police sources revealed that all raids were conducted on the information received from persons who were arrested from Lahore and some other parts of the province. The intelligence information about the alleged terrorists also shared by the American FBI.
Sources said the arrested persons were include Muhammad Alam Tariq, brother of former MNA and head of banned Sipah-i-Sahaba, Azim Tariq. He was arrested from Faisalabad where he had been residing for the last many months with a fake name.
Jhang police arrested Muhammad Shahzad son of Wazir Khan, Naseem Saddiqui son of Muhammad Sadiq, Muhammad Yousaf son of Abdul Aziz, Nasarullah son of Imran Ali and others. The names of arrested persons by the Toba Tek Singh police could not known. All the arrested persons were shifted to unknown places for interrogation.
A senior police officer requesting anonymity said more raids would be conducted to held accomplices of the arrested persons.
