SUKKUR, April 2 In a massive crackdown launched here on Wednesday, law-enforcement personnel rounded up at least 10 suspects belonging to a proscribed religious organisation.

According to sources, Rangers and police personnel cordoned off the Jinnah Chowk locality in Old Sukkur and other areas and carried out house-to-house searches.

Two of the 10 detained suspects were identified as Zubair Shaikh and Faisal Shaikh, brothers.

Sukkur DPO Sharjeel Kharal told Dawn that police had acted on information provided by a security agency. The suspects, he said, were being interrogated. The sources, however, said the arrests had been made in connection with the attack on the Manawan police training centre in Lahore.
