ISLAMABAD Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) has invited disgruntled leaders of the party including Aitzaz Ahsan and Senator Safdar Abbasi in its Central Executive Committee (CEC) meeting being held on Friday at Naudero, Larkana, sources in the PPP told Dawn on Thursday.

The CEC is being held on the occasion of 30th death anniversary of the PPP founder and former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

The PPP secretary information Fauzia Wahab has confirmed that disgruntled members of the PPP have been invited in the CEC.

`It is a normal practice that invitations are sent to all members of the CEC for the meeting and that is why they too were sent the invitations,` she said.

However, it has been observed that some party leaders including Aitzaz Ahsan were barred from attending a couple of CEC meetings that were held in the recent past in Islamabad.

Aitzaz was sidelined from the party for actively participating in the lawyers` movement for restoration of judiciary. Senator Safdar Abbasi, former information minister Sherry Rehman and Dr Israr Shah were also kept away from the CEC meetings for opposing some decision of President Asif Ali Zardari and termed it harmful for the party and the country.

Aitzaz Ahsan told a private TV channel that he had not received formal invitation to attend the CEC but he will definitely proceed to Naudero to attend 30th death anniversary ceremony of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

On the occasion of the 30th martyrdom anniversary of the founder chairman PPP Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the Party has chalked out a programme to observe the event in a befitting manner. People from all over the country and all walks of life will be reaching Garhi Khuda Buksh to pay their tributes to their martyred leader.

Special trains and thousands of busses will start reaching Larkana on April 3. On April 4, a 2 minute silence in respect of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto will be observed and a special documentary will be shown on this occasion, the PPP secretary information said.
