HYDERABAD, April 6 Awami Tehrik leaders, Mr Rasool Bux Palijo, Abdul Qadir Ranto and Syed Alam Shah, have said that the present government which had received a massive mandate in the general elections had greatly disappointed the people of Pakistan, specially the Sindhi people, and added that the present rulers had failed to fulfil their promises.
They were talking to journalists at the conclusion of the general council meeting of the party at Palijo house Qasimabad on Sunday evening.
They said that the people had expected that the present rulers would undo the unconstitutional and illegal actions of the previous dictator and discard his anti-state and anti-people policies but this has not been done even after the passage of one year.
They said that it was expected that the dictator would be prosecuted for violating the constitution and his other misdeeds but instead he was presented with guard of honour and given all protocols. They said that it was during Musharraf`s regime that innocent people were massacred in the heart of Sindh—Karachi by the terrorists on May 12, the lawyers were burnt alive, tens of thousands of acres of land and jobs were given to undeserving people and the control of the natural resources of Sindh was also given to outsiders.
The Awami Tehrik leaders said that the districts of Sindh were bifurcated and handed over to terrorists, jagirdars, waderas and tribal chiefs while the doors of educational institutions in Karachi were closed for Sindhi students.
The terrorists were absolved from all crimes and cases against them were withdrawn, they said. They regretted that the present government was also following the same imperialist policies of Musharraf which had been formulated by America.
They alleged that the state lands in Karachi were being sold through fraud and billions of rupees were being earned whereas the problems of the Sindhi villages had not been resolved.
They said that no action had been taken against the terrorists who had committed inhuman atrocities against the Sindhi people from 1988 till date. The terrorists had not only been given a license by the previous government but also by the present government, they alleged.
The Awami Tehrik leaders took strong exception on comparing the leader of the terrorist with Z.A.Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto.
They regretted that instead of providing justice to the people of NWFP and Balochistan, they had been left at the mercy of suicide bombers. They said that the flogging of a young girl in Swat was an insult to the entire human race.
They also referred to the injustices committed against Sindh with regards to NFC award and injudicious distribution of water. They said that the government appeared totally oblivious of the increasing incidents of Karo-Kari and tribal disputes.
They congratulated Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry and other judges on their reinstatement due to the struggle launched by lawyers and civil society.
