HYDERABAD, April 10 Sindh Minister for Law Ayaz Ali Soomro has said that two state-of-the-art laboratories for chemical and ballistic examination will be established in Hyderabad to help investigation of crimes.
He said while presiding over a meeting of DPOs, SPs of investigation and law officers of Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas regions at Shahbaz Building on Thursday that Rs180 million had been earmarked for translation of all law books required for prosecution into Sindhi and Urdu to enable investigation officers to submit their cases in courts with full legal justification.
He said that in addition to capacity building of investigation officers, proper cooperation and coordination among police officers and prosecution officers was also essential for winning government cases in courts.
He said that at present, the government was pleading different cases, especially about recovery of illegally occupied government property from land-grabbers, getting criminals convicted and protecting interest of various government departments in courts.
He urged the officers to undertake joint efforts to achieve these objectives and informed the meeting that in order to ban sale of `mainpuri` relevant law was being revised and police would be asked to eradicate this menace at any cost.
He said that the government had provided all facilities including furniture and vehicles to prosecution officers and urged them to expedite litigation process and facilitate investigation officers as well as the bench.
The minister said during a visit to the Regional Information Office that media had played a vital role in creating awareness among people and projecting and monitoring development activities.
He said that the management of the office had demonstrated good performance despite scarce resources and asked its director to submit proposals for strengthening the office and assured that he would support the proposals.
Regional Director of Information Office Imdad Ali Keerio assured the minister that he and his team would make efforts to project government activities for the awareness and welfare of people.
