KOHAT, April 21 Militants fired two rockets at FC Kotal Checkpost, situated on the hilly track near Darra Adamkhel, hours after the ceasefire ended early Tuesday morning.
The security forces retaliated and targeted the suspected hideouts of militants in Darra Adamkhel with heavy machineguns. No casualty was reported from either side. The security forces and police established heavily guarded checkposts at 21 entry points of the districts following intelligence reports of terrorist attack on Tuesday.
The entry of all heavy vehicles was also banned into the cantonment and additional police and army men equipped with bullet proof jackets and sophisticated weapons were deployed at all sensitive places.
Meanwhile, in a joint search operation army and police arrested 28 illegal Afghan nationals from different parts of the district and booked them under 14 Foreign Act.
Extra precautionary measures were being taken after the Doaba suicide blast and the reports that Taliban had planned more attacks in the region.
It is pertinent to mention here that Darra Taliban had ended ceasefire from April 21 and declared war. The teams investigating the kidnapping of the general manager of Kohat Cement Company and three OGDCL employees had extended their probe to the tribal areas of Frontier Region of Kohat and Orakzai Agency.
Authorities decided to send daily progress report to the district and provincial government about the investigations into the high profile kidnappings.
Ibrahim Shinwari adds from Landi Kotal Militants on Tuesday fired five rockets at Shagai and Ali Masjid forts, situated on the main Peshawar-Torkhum highway, in Khyber tribal region.
Sources said that at least two rockets each landed near Shagai Fort and Ali Masjid Fort while another hit a near by hilltop in Lala Cheena locality. No damage was caused to any of the forts.
The security forces resorted to indiscriminate firing in all directions after the rockets attack which was the first of its type on the two forts occupied jointly by the Pakistan army and personnel of the Khyber Rifles.
Though nobody so far claimed responsibility of the rocket attacks, yet local militants had threatened on Friday to carry out attacks against government and military installations if the government failed to stop supply of fuel and military hardware through the Torkham border to Nato forces in Afghanistan.
