MARDAN, April 28 Authorities clamped curfew onto the main road from Shahbaz Garhi in Mardan to Ambela checkpost in Buner on Tuesday in the wake of military operation against militants in Buner district.

Contingents of forces were seen moving from Punjab Regiment Centre Mardan to Buner. To avoid any untoward incident they imposed curfew on the main road from Shahbaz Garhi in Mardan to Amebela checkpost in Buner.

They asked the local residents to stay away from the road.

They also banned movement on the mentioned road however the curfew would be relaxed from 6 pm to 10pm.

The curfew will remain imposed from 10pm to 10am.

BAIL REJECTED Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Mohammad Iqbal Khan rejected bail applications of 22 protesters of Ghala Dher union council including the nazim of the area and sent them to Mardan jail here on Tuesday.

The residents of the area, led by its nazim Noor Gul, on Monday staged a demonstration against power outage and blocked Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway.

The protesters later on pelted stones and fired at the police party in which five persons including Mardan DPO Waqif Khan sustained injuries.

Police also resorted to baton-charge and fired teargas at the protesters.

They arrested 22 persons including the nazim and charged them under various sections including 7ATA.

They arrested persons were produced before the anti-terrorism court, which rejected their bail applications and sent them to the district jail.

The court fixed May 12 for next hearing.
