ABBOTTABAD, July 5: More than 400 athletes from all over the country are taking part in the three-day sports festival organized by the District Sports Committee under the supervision of NWFP Sports Board.

In the 10th edition of the competitions for the blind, physically handicapped, mentally retarded and deaf and dumb players will take part at least in eight disciplines which are tug of war, cricket, badmintion, table tennis, wheel-chair race, body building, gymnastic and musical chair.

On the opening day, in the blind’s tug of war, Peshawar defeated Islamabad, and Karachi defeated Abbottabad.

In badminton single, players from Faisalabad and Lahore dominated the game, while in the doubles competition players from Lahore and Peshawar registered victories.

In body-building contest, Lahore boys stole the show, while in gymnastic, players from Peshawar won the initial round of contest.
