SWABI, May 28 US Ambassador Anne W. Patterson visited a camp for internally displaced people in Yar Hussain area of Chota Lahor on Thursday and announced a donation of $26.6 million for the UN World Food Programme for urgent relief efforts.

Tight security arrangements had been made for the first visit by an ambassador to the camp.

Ms Patterson was briefed by United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and district administration officials on problems being faced by the IDPs.

The ambassador met some people in the camp and discussed their problems.
