KARACHI, June 9 Talented Nameer Shamsi has put in his best efforts as he is on course for a maiden triple crown in the Maroof Trophy tennis tournament at the Beach View Club on Tuesday.

Top seed Nameer, a junior international, set a date with second seed Uzair A. Qadir for the boys' under-15 singles crown after they romped home over their opponents in convincing fashion on the penultimate day.

Nameer squeezed past contemporary and junior international Adil Kohari 6-3, 6-1 while Uzair gave 6-1, 6-2 drubbing to Talha Zubair Surmawala.

Nameer also powered his way into juniors' under-17 singles final again overcoming Adil Kohari 7-6, 6-3 and faces top seed Mustafa Zaidi who beat Murtazain 6-1, 2-0 (retired).

Nameer teamed up with Yayha Basit Gabol to beat Faraz A. Faiz and Sarwan Memon 6-3, 6-2 to reach juniors' under-17 doubles final.

Meanwhile, top seeds Nomi Qamar and Nasir Mushtaq will fight for men's singles title for the second time in 10 days after they chalked up emphatic victories over their respective rivals.

Nomi knocked Abbas Raza 6-3, 6-1 while Nasir posted 6-1, 6-0 victory over Saif Noor Soomar.

Earlier the two have met in the Anti Tobacco tennis tournament final held on May 31 in which Nomi struggled to beat Nasir 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3.
