ISLAMABAD/RAWALPINDI, June 15 Two women lost their lives to property disputes in the twin cities on Monday.

In one incident, eight gunmen stormed into the office of a cooperative housing society in Sector I-8/3 and shot dead its owner, Salma Qureshi, while in the other a woman was murdered in Rawalpindi's Waris Khan locality by her two nephews allegedly over a property dispute, police said.

Witnesses told police that eight masked men entered the office of Services Cooperative Housing Society. Four of the criminals held the staff at gunpoint while the remaining entered Ms Qureshi's room, where two held her by her arms while the third tied a cord around her neck. The fourth pumped bullets in her temple and neck from point blank. As a result, Ms Qureshi, in her late 40s, collapsed and died. The assassins fled the scene without leaving a trace.

After receiving information about the crime, the police reached the scene and shifted her body to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) for medico-legal. Ms Qureshi was a spinster and police suspect that she fell victim to some land dispute.

The housing society she ran owns land in Sector E-11, one of the costliest locations in Islamabad.

In the other incident, Tareen Bibi was sitting in her house when her two nephews came there and allegedly opened fire on her killing her on the spot. The killers managed to escape from the scene.
