DADU, June 20 Strict orders had been issued to irrigation officials for judicious distribution of water up to the tail end of Dadu canal, said Minister of State for Food and Agriculture Rafique Ahmed Jamali.

He said Dadu canal would be remodelled so that more water should be released for the tail-end growers of the canal.

A huge amount was allocated for advancing loans to growers, he said at meetings with growers, fertilizer dealers and officers of development schemes at DCO office here on Saturday.

He said that a huge quantity of fertilizers had been provided and urged district administrations to make fair distribution of fertilizers. About development schemes, he said design of Gaaj dam had been changed and Rs1 billion had been allocated for the construction of Nai Gaaj Dam.

He said tenders had been invited for Nai Gaaj Dam and added that 40,000 acres of barren land of Johi would be made cultivable and 20MW electricity would be generated.

On complaints of substandard material used in the development schemes in Dadu, he urged the officials concerned to use standard material in the ongoing construction of mega drainage scheme, roads and school buildings. Otherwise an action would be taken, he warned.

About PPP activists protest against “the sale of jobs”, he said President Asif Ali Zardari had allocated a job quota for PPP activists. Protesters were loyal PPP activist and employment would be provided to them, he added.

He said an action would be taken against PPP leaders who had sold jobs and misused PPP activists' quota.

He said Sindh chief minister had taken notice and ordered a probe into “sale of jobs”.
