LAHORE, July 9 A national-level road cycle race under the aegis of the Pakistan Cycling Federation (PCF) in collaboration with Sindh Cycling Association will be held from Karachi to Hyderabad on August 16.

All the affiliated units of the PCF including Army, Railways, Wapda, Sui Southern Gas Company and all the four provinces as well as FATA will be participating.

Preparation by the participating teams is already in progress, said a spokesman of PCF here on Thursday.
Funds from the Begum Nusrat-un-Nisa Foundation have enabled the PCF to introduce an incentive for encouraging the cyclists.

“An achievement award of Rs50,000 on the spot and Rs5,000 per month will be given to the best cyclist on the basis of his achievement during the year.

In fact, the step is being taken for the promotion of cycling in Pakistan as well as encouraging the sportsmen,” he said.

In order to determine eligibility for the achievement award, a committee comprising Nusrat Khan, M.M. Mehdi, Syed Azhar Ali and Waqar Ali has been constituted to evaluate the performance of the cyclists in the
national-level events.—APP
