ISLAMABAD, July 13: President Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Saturday that the proposed constitutional package was guided by the desire to re-introduce democracy on a sustainable basis.

The president was talking to editors and columnists from all over the country as part of the consultative process initiated to seek views of all segments of society on the proposed constitutional amendments.

The president assured them that the government would finalize the amendments only after getting all the feedback.

“We will decide about the amendments in the best national interest and in the light of the discussions, and suggestions given by different segments of society,” he said.—APP
