KARACHI, July 20 Third seed Yasir Khan powered his way to the men's singles final when he overcame fourth seed Nomi Qamer in three gruelling sets to set up the final clash with top seed Aqeel Khan in the Pakistan Open Tennis Championship at the Creek Club on Monday.
The matches were resumed after a break of two days that occurred due to rains which made the conditions unplayable.
Yasir, who has just returned from Manila with the Pakistan team which lost Davis Cup group two second-round tie against the Philippines 3-2, sweat for some two-and-a-half hours to ease to a 6-3, 2-6, 7-5 victory over much experienced Nomi.
This was Yasir's second career win over Nomi, the first being in men's singles semi-final of a Sindh ranking tournament earlier this year.
Talha Zubair Surmawala annexed the boys' under-13 singles title by getting the better of Islamabad's Kashan-ul-Haq 8-5 while the boys' under-11 title went to local boy Sarwan Memon who disposed off Mohammad Raza Sawani 5-2 (retired).
Meanwhile, top two seeds Syed Zuhair Raza and Sadan-ul-Haq stormed in the juniors' under-17 singles final. The former chalked up convincing 6-3, 6-3 victory over Adil Kohari while the latter accounted for Mustafa Zaidi 6-1, 7-5 in two pre-finals.
The event concludes on Tuesday with three finals on card.
