KARACHI, July 23 Sindh's Sohail Shehzad, the 12th seed, pulled off the biggest upset to date when he ruthlessly beat top seed and former national champion Mohammad Sajjad 4-0 to end his winning streak in the National Ranking Snooker Cup at Karachi Gymkhana on Thursday.

Sohail completely dominated the play and gave no room to his opponent to settle down. He was home 81-6, 67-8, 68-14, 70-16.

Three players — Sohail, Sajjad and Vishan Gir — are in contention for top two slots from group A in the knockout quarter-finals.

Second seed Raees Khan also fell prey to Mohammad Afzal 4-3 the score being 18-70, 27-71, 57-38, 68-57, 62-49, 15-61, 77-43.

Besides the top two seeds, four more players among the top eight went down on a day of upsets. They include fourth seed Sharjeel Mahmood, sixth seed Inam-ur-Rehman, seventh seed Naveen Perwani and eighth seed Vishan Gir.

Sharjeel suffered 1-4 loss to Mohammad Jawed, Inam went down to Rambel Gul by identical margin, Naveen lost 3-4 to Sultan Mohammad while Vishan went down straight to Imran Shehzad.

The league matches concludes on Friday.
