LONDON, Aug 6 The UK wing of PML-N has joined Lord Nazir Ahmed's recently launched campaign to institute a case in the British courts against former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf on behalf of what the campaigners call the “victims of Musharraf's atrocities”.
Zubair Gull, who heads the PML-N's UK wing, attended a meeting here on Wednesday evening along with Barrister Abid Hussain with Lord Nazir Ahmed joined in from Pakistan through video-link.
Earlier, a panel of top lawyers had sought advice on the legality of actions of Musharraf's actions in Pakistan from UK's well-known human rights law firm Bindmans LLP which had previously acted in the prosecution of General Pinochet of Chile and is currently challenging state immunity rules in the European Court on behalf of victims of torture in Saudi Arabia.
After receiving its 'consent to advice' letter from the law firm, Lord Nazir Ahmed left for Pakistan to talk to families of the affected people including those who fell victims to what is called Musharraf's atrocities in Balochistan.
Meanwhile, Mr Musharraf has left with his wife on a cruise which is expected to take him to France and Italy and back by the middle of August. In September he is scheduled to visit the US on a lecture tour.
