SHEIKHUPURA Prime Minster Yousaf Raza Gillani on Saturday inaugurated the Atlas Power Plant with a capacity of 225 megawatts in Sheikhupura.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Prime Minister said that the joint venture between private companies and the government of Pakistan would prove to be a source of economic growth for the country, DawnNews reported.

He also said the government has decided not to incease the power tariff for the time being. 

Federal Minister for Water and Power Raja Pervez Ashraf added that the goverment is making all efforts to overcome the power crisis in the country by December 2009.

Talking separately to the media about the case of former President General Pervez Musharraf, Gilani said that he is not being favoured by the government or the army and his case will be dealt with in the court of law
