KARACHI, Aug 14 Fancied Habib Bank fought their way into semi-finals inflicting 63-31 victory over Hyderabad in the 3rd NBP President's Cup basketball tournament at Arambagh floodlit court on Thursday night.

The bankers led 33-14 at half time.

Mohammad Ashraf and Kazim were instrumental in bankers' third triumph as they contributed 19 points apiece. Mustafa scored eight.

Muneeb top scored for Hyderabad with 12. He was assisted by Asad Imam (8) and Absar (4).

They are slated to meet District East 'G' in their last group 'A' match on Saturday.

Like Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas also went down 24-33 to District Central in the second match.

Idrees (9), Mohsin (6) and Sameen (6) shared the scoring honours for winners.

Riaz Ahmed and Tariq Mahmood scored seven and five respectively for losers.

District South 'W' enhanced their chances of making it to last four from group 'A' by getting the better of District East 'G' 75-62 after trailing 28-33 at breather.

The winners had chalked up 54-49 victory over District East 'G' and went down fighting 54-60 to Habib Bank after coming close to upset the result.

Ashraf Yayha was the pick of the lot accumulating 32 points. He was ably assisted by another prolific scorer Akmal Jamil who scored 18. Sultan Habib contributed nine.

Faizan Naeem top scored for losers with 17 followed by Mairaj and Saifullah 12 each.
