KARACHI, Aug 21 A schedule of admission to first-year classes in government-run higher secondary schools of the city has not yet been announced despite the fact that the new academic year is set to commence on September 1.

Admissions to Class XI in both the government colleges and the city government's higher secondary schools were given under the Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) simultaneously till 2007 but from the following year, the higher secondary schools were excluded from the purview of the CAP and the authority to grant admissions to these schools was restored to their chiefs.

Though the CAP committee — set up by the provincial education department to regulate admissions to Class XI in the city's 123 government colleges — has already announced a schedule of admissions to colleges and fixed Aug 22 as the last date for submitting the forms, the EDO of education is yet to announce the admission schedule for the higher secondary schools.

Meanwhile, the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has asked the EDO of education to inform the board about an admission schedule and the deadline.
