Thatta owe it to Ali for victory

KARACHI, July 18: Zone-I Whites and Thatta District scored victories in the second phase of KCCA U-17 tournament Thursday.

Aat KCCA Stadium Zone-I Whites beat Zone-IV Green by eight wickets while at Pakistan Steel Stadium Thatta District defeated Zone-V Blues by 11 runs.

The highlight of the matches was a telling spell of five wickets for 66 runs by Thatta District’s Muhammad Ali against Zone-V Blues which helped his team to record a narrow victory.

Summarized scores: Zone-I Whites beat Zonve-IV Green by eight wickets. Zone-IV Green 133 in 46.4 overs (Naveed Ahmed 29, Syed Hyder Ali 28; Ahmed I1bal 3-22, Tahir Afridi 3-25); Zone-I Whites 135 for two in 24.4 overs (Yasir Hussain 58 n.o., Umair Ahmed 19 not out; Saqiz Zia 2-39).

Thatta District beat Zone-V Blues by 11 runs. Thatta District 210 in 44.3 overs (M.Naeem 64, Abdul Qadeer 32; Kashif Malik 4-49, Babar Rashid 3-33); Zone-V Blues 199 in 46 overs (Adnanur Rehman 69, M.Sajid 24, M.Zohaib 24, Muhammad Ali 5-66, Waseem Abid 2-29, Abdul Malik 2-29).
