ISLAMABAD, Aug 24 Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the National Reconciliation Ordinance is not a hurdle in the way of trial of former president Pervez Musharraf under Article 6 of the Constitution.

He was talking to newsmen during a visit to the Chakri village to offer condolences to the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on the death of his elder brother Lt Gen (retd) Chaudhry Iftikhar Ali Khan on Monday.

He was accompanied by Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Babar Awan.

The prime minister said that Pakistan Muslim League-N would not join the federal cabinet till it saw a marked improvement in the performance of the government.

He said Pakistan wanted early resumption of composite dialogue with India and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif fully supported his government on the matter. He said the government was utilising all resources to control the sugar price.

He said the government had fixed the ex-mill price of sugar at Rs45 per kg and its availability in all provinces would be ensured.

When asked to comment on the conflict in Punjab between the PPP and PML-N, he said “We are two different political parties with different manifestos and both of us are following our manifestos.

“If some people are trying to create differences between the two parties, they should not be allowed to do so and instead we should try to strengthen the institutions.”

About the latest dossier that Pakistan has received from India, he said “It is the domain of Mr Rahman Malik to respond.”
