KOHAT, Sept 6 A policeman was killed and another received injuries when a bomb went off at the entrance of Jungle Khel police station on Sunday night.

The time device had been planted near the main gate of the police station which exploded with a huge noise killing policeman Ajab Khan on the spot and injuring his colleague Majid.

The blast was so powerful that a huge piece of the gate hit the policeman, who was standing at a distance from the bomb site, right in the face.

The body and the injured were shifted to divisional headquarters hospital. DIG Abdullah Khan visited the hospital and enquired after the health of the injured. He expressed sorrow and grief over the death of policeman.

Police cordoned off the entire area after the blast and the district administration put security at all sensitive police and army installations at high alert.

14 arrested Fourteen suspected militants were arrested during search operation in various parts of the district on Sunday.

The police elite force, commandoes of anti-terrorist squad and teams from Jungle Khel, Saddar and Cantonment police stations took part in the operation. They arrested the suspects from Ghulam Banda, Dhodha, Muhammadzai, Ublan and Ghamkol Afghan refugee camps along with huge quantity of weapons.

Police on the occasion seized two Kalashnikovs, four rifles, five shotguns, 10 pistols, 454 cartridges and over one kilogram hashish. The suspects were handed over to the special interrogation team.

The DPO said that the cleanup operation would continue till expulsion of non-local sinister elements from Kohat.

BODY FOUND The body of an alleged outlaw was found on the Indus Highway, police on Sunday.

Amjad Ali Shah was wanted by police in cases of kidnapping and murder. His body was found near Lachi Town.

The disfigured body had been crushed under vehicle to give impression of an accident.

However, the autopsy report said that he had been shot and killed. The local police registered a case against the unknown killers and started investigation.
