Nine killed in road accident near Mardan

PESHAWAR At least nine people died and several others injured in a road accident on the motorway at Rashakai Interchange near Mardan on Tuesday.

 

An official of the Motorway Police informed that a Hiace pick-up carrying passengers from Peshawar to Islamabad, rammed into an oil tanker from the back near Rashakai Inter change.

 

Nine passengers died on the spot while seven others were injured. The officials concerned have rushed to the spot and are currently engaged in the rescue operation.

The identity of the victims could not be ascertained yet.

 

Police said the incident occurred at 0340 p.m. as both the vehicles were heading towards Islamabad from Peshawar.

 

Bodies of the deceased and injured have been shifted to Mardan Medical college. -DawnNews /APP
