GUJAR KHAN, Sept 15 Three members of a family including a woman were mysteriously murdered, while an elderly woman was injured apparently by three armed men who barged into their house late on Monday night in the Pandori Baliam village of Gujar Khan police station.

According to Mirza Jameel Baig, DSP Gujar Khan, Mohammad Azam told police that when he visited his brothers' house on Tuesday morning he found the bodies of Mohammad Amin, Mohammad Akram and Shazia Bibi, the wife of Mohammad Akram in a pool of blood.

Besides, he said, his 80-year-old mother Saira Bi was critically injured and lying in a state of unconsciousness and Akram's six-month-old child was unhurt but crying.

According to Mohammad Azam, he was living in a separate house in the village while the house of his brothers was located away from the main locality in a secluded area. Mohammad Azam said his elder brother Mohammad Amin was settled in the UK and had been in Pakistan for the last one and a half month.

The bodies of the victims were shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital Gujar Khan.

Saira Bi, after gaining consciousness told the police that at about 11.00 pm three armed men barged into the house and they first turned the main switch of electricity off and then resorted to firing on the inmates in the darkness. Only the six-month-old son of Shazia and Mohammad Akram remained unhurt. Saira Bi was shifted to Rawalpinid hospital in a critical condition.

The DSP Gujar Khan while commenting over the motive behind the killing, said that there was minimum possibility of robbery and some enmity or family fued could be blamed for this gory incident. However, he said that police were looking into all aspects of the crime.

The incident has sent a wave of insecurity among the residents especially the expatriate families who are in a great number in the eastern area of Gujar Khan tehsil.
