THIS is apropos of Shams Z. Abbas's letter, 'Musharraf lectures why be jealous' (Sept 15), in which he has referred to the lectures of ex-president Pervez Musharraf which he is scheduled to deliver in the United States shortly.
Out of the existing breed of our politicians, none of them can even think of doing so.
Yes! They can surely think of ways and means of hoarding sugar and creating artificial shortage of this commodity to add a few more billion to their already fat account which most of whom have opened in foreign countries.
They can only criticise as they themselves are not capable of speaking on topics which ex-president Musharraf has been requested to speak on.
Being an ex-general and not a politician, he faced a press conference in India when he visited that country during his stint in power.
It looked as if he was thrown in a den of hungry lions. The journalists and editors of reputed newspapers pounced on him with volleys of questions which were handled by him so deftly that everybody was wonder-struck! Musharraf had taken all of them for a ride in their own country! How many politicians of our country have ever done so?
I would request the politicians, TV anchors and all those who have nothing to do but to criticise each and every action of the former president to be pragmatic in their approach and should give credit to him where it is due.
