LAHORE, Sept 20 Senior film actor and Movie Artistes Association chairman Yousaf Khan who passed away late on Saturday night at Sheikh Zaid hospital after suffering a massive heart attack was laid to rest on Sunday in central graveyard of Kasur where his parents and other family members are buried.

He is survived by a son and a widow. He was 76.

Mr Khan was bedridden since his ankle got fractured almost a year ago when he slipped from stairs at his home. According to his close friend film producer Yunus Malik, he was twice operated upon by two different surgeons but the fracture could not be properly fixed.

Malik said that before his fracture Khan was very social, but lately he started feeling lonely which perhaps turned him into a heart patient. He suffered a minor heart attack a few months ago. Khan Sahib had been admitted to the Sheikh Zaid Hospital as his condition deteriorated during the last couple of weeks. His body was taken to his house at Islampura, Main bazaar.

According to his family, Khan was born in 1933 at Ferozpur (India). After partition, his family migrated to Pakistan and settled in Kasur. His father Khan Nawaz Khan was a barrister. He got his early education from Islamia High School, Bhatti Gate.

Film writer Pervaiz Klaeem, who was very close to Khan Sahib, said Pakistan film industry produced three outstanding personalities -- Santosh Kumar, Anayat Hussan Bhatti and Yousaf Khan. All of them understood film making in depth. Khan used to tailor his characters according to the demand of the script and after detailed discussion with the director, a trait now very rare in the film actors, Kaleem said.

He said films Zidi and Buut Shikan (both wining Nigar Award) were two milestone movies in Khan's career. Khan Sahib himself used to say that he liked his film Buut Shikan a lot, he added.
