KOHAT, Sept 20 The suicide attack which claimed 40 precious lives in Kohat has been termed as a serious security lapse where law enforcing agencies failed to promptly act on an intelligence report.
Highly placed sources told Dawn on condition of anonymity that the intelligence agencies had warned the police about the imminent suicide attack in Kohat many days back. But the DIG, Kohat region and the district police officer did not make serious efforts to avoid the attack and nab the bomber and planners.
The police had been claiming that the tribal border had been completely sealed and every man and vehicle was being checked strictly by the elite force and police commandos. But questions were being raised that if the borders had been sealed then how the vehicle full of explosives was able to go past the checkposts many hours before the blast?
