MIRAMSHAH, Oct 2 Twelve people were injured in two explosions at a bird fair here on Friday.

The organisers of the weekly event said they had been receiving threats from the Taliban against holding recreational activities. Ignoring the threats, however, bird lovers had assembled at the fair ground in large numbers on Friday.

Witnesses said the explosions took place when people were engrossed in watching a competition among some partridges.

All the injured were taken to a local hospital except for one critically-wounded man who was rushed to Peshawar.

The weekly partridge fair is held here regularly, with bird lovers from North Waziristan and Bannu taking part in various activities.
