SKARDU, Oct 6 Former deputy chief executive of Gilgit-Baltistan Fida Mohammad Nashad and former chairman of Skardu municipal committee Mohammad Taqi Akhonzada announced joining the PML-N at a public gathering here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Nashad said he was joining the party because it had carried out development works in Gilgit-Baltistan. He said he would work for making the PML-N the largest party in the region.

He also welcomed the joining of Mr Akhonzada of the PML-N, saying it would strengthen the party because he was a well known personality and his achievements for the area could not be ignored.

He claimed that many other political figures would also join the PML-N soon.

Mr Akhonzada said he was impressed with the struggle of the PML-N against dictatorship in the country, that was why he joined the party.

Later, in a telephonic address to the meeting, PML-N chairman Raja Zafarul Haq, senator Zafar Ali Shah, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan Abbasi and PML-N GB president Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman welcomed the joining of Mr Nashad and Mr Akhonzada. They assured Mr Nashad of supporting him in his efforts for development of Gilgit-Baltistan.—Correspondent
