ISLAMABAD Sara Mahboob cruised into the final of the Subh-e-Nau National Hard Court tennis championship after defeating Sara Mansoor in the semi-final on Friday.

 

Sara Mansoor put up tough resistance against Sara Mahboob, winning the first set 6-2.

 

However, Sara Mahboob came back strongly winning the next two sets (6-1, 6-0).

 

The match between Saba Aziz and Ushna Sohail was one set all when it was stopped because of bad light. The match will be completed on Saturday.

 

Meanwhile, top seed Aqeel Khan confirmed a berth in the men's singles final, hammering Waqas Malik in the semi-final.

 

Waqas could not repeat his pre-quarter-final performance in which he had outclassed Asim Shafik.

 

Jalil Khan on the other hand joined his brother Aqeel in the final, beating Tanveer Ashiq 6-3, 6-2.

 

In the boy's doubles final, Aqeel Khan and Jalil Khan clinched the trophy by thrashing the pair of Tanveer Ashiq and Yasir Khan 6-1, 6-4.

 

In the boys' U-17 semi-final, Zohair Raza had an upset defeat against fourth seed Faizan Khurram, who defeated Zohair 6-3, 6-2.

 

Meanwhile, Heera Ashiq also made his way to the final, beating M. Abid 7-6, 6-0.

Faizan Khurram bt Zohair Raza 6-3, 6-2; Heera Ashiq bt M. Abid 7-6, 6-0.
