LAHORE, Oct 11 Fancied dark-bay colt Northern Crown lived up to his top breeding credentials powering to victory in the Super Cup run over 1,100 metres during the Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse on Sunday.

The colt scored a two-length win over chestnut colt Mano Sahib. Bay horse Apex and bay colt Victory Gift completed the frame among 13 contestants.

Northern Crown was given a patient ride by leading jockey Shahid Rehman before storming home in the last 100 metres.

The winning owner Saqib Hayat Khan received the cup from the Lahore Race Club (LRC) steward Sheikh Sajjad Hassan.

This was the fifth race of the day, a class five division I and II combined handicap race.

Filly Ocean Song won the supporting and last event defeating Jo Jo Gift by three-fourth of a length with Mountain Lion and Mutajar completing the frame.

Ridden by riding boy Sajjad Hussain, the Amjad Ali II-trained filly warded off a strong challenge from Jo Jo Gift in the dying strides.

Fancied bay filly Daring Creek responded really well to jockey Aamir Pervez's urging in the home stretch to land a game success in the fourth race defeating bay colt Decent Baker by over six lengths. Dear Creek finished third while bay colt Life cured by his sore shin trouble completed the frame in a field of dozen runners.

Three favourites won in a card of six events - Curlin (even-money), Daring Creek (40 to 1000) and Northern Dancer 30 to 100).
